Using this template

You may customise the title and navigation text in this template if you wish. The following are the settings I used for the text, and are specifically for Adobe Photoshop, but should be similar for most graphics software.

Within the "blanks" folder of the zipfile, you will find a blank title graphic (title.jpg) and blank button graphics which you can add your own text to. The font used is AvQest, which is included in the zipfile. You will need to unzip the font and install it to your computer.

The title:

• font size - 47 pixels
• font colour - white (#FFFFFF)
• effect - outer glow:

  *opacity: 100%
  *size: 6
  *spread: 15%
  *colour: R=89, G=96, B=111 (#59606F)
  *mode: normal

A duplicate of the title was made, placed underneath the existing title, the colour changed to R=89, G=96, B=111 (#59606F), and offset 7 pixels to the right and down. The mode of the layer should be set to "darken" and the transparency reduced to 70%.

The buttons:

• font size - 24 pixels
• font tracking - 50
• font colour - R=57, G=62, B=73 (#393E49)
• rollover effect - outer glow:

  *opacity: 100%
  *size: 5
  *spread: 7%
  *colour: R=139, G=148, B=165 (#8B94A5)
  *mode: normal

The rollover buttons:

The rollover buttons are the same as the non-rollover buttons, except there is no outer glow on the text.

Saving the images

After customising the title you should save the jpg with a quality of around 45%. This will reduce the file size without affecting the quality too much.

The rollover images should be saved with the suffix "-over". All other images should not be renamed.

Save the title to the "images" folder and rather than overriding the image in the "blanks" folder - you may need the blank image again later on.

The style sheet

The style sheet (sk-styles.css) controls the appearance of the text and links. It also controls the template's background. This file needs to be uploaded to your website with the rest of the files.
